About me

Treppiede.jpg

I was born and raised in Friuli Venezia Giulia, a land I proudly carry in my heart. When I was five years old, back in 1976, the region was struck by a devastating earthquake that brought many local towns to their knees. In the summers of the 1980s, I often returned to those places, helping my father with his work as a fruit and vegetable street vendor. Those days allowed me to experience firsthand the resilience of the communities hit by the earthquake, to appreciate their culture, and to admire the strength with which they faced the long reconstruction, turning hardship into an opportunity that fueled the economic boom of those years.

That very boom also opened the doors to new technologies, like the first home computers, which sparked my imagination and gave me the drive to start a path in electronics.

The idea of a new technological world, filled with the wonders of electronics, kept growing stronger in me. Right after middle school, I chose to attend the "A. Malignani" Technical Institute in Udine, a place I still consider part of my identity. It was there that I discovered how technology could become tangible and turn into real skills, giving me the tools to face the future.

After completing my diploma, I pursued a degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Trieste. Almost by chance, right after graduating, I was offered the opportunity to join OGS with a traineeship contract. I would have never imagined working at the Center for Seismological Research, focusing on the very earthquake-related topics that had marked my childhood. It felt like closing a circle: returning to the places I had known as a child, but seeing them with new eyes and beginning to realize how technology could truly serve people.

Since then, more than twenty years have passed. At OGS I have built my professional path, working on GNSS permanent networks, technological prototypes, calibration laboratories, and science-diplomacy projects. Along the way, I also earned a Master’s degree at the Politecnico di Milano in Management of Research, Innovation and Technology, which allowed me to strengthen my skills in managing complex projects and driving technological innovation.

My work is about turning research and innovation into something tangible, tools that can serve people in their everyday lives. Yet no achievement would have real meaning without being shared and passed on to younger generations, whom I firmly believe are the true wealth of tomorrow.
